Meeting of the Trains as Colossal Art Sculpture Unveiled at Golden Spike National Historical Park
On Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10 am there will be a rare tandem run of Golden Spike National Historical Park’s Victorian-style locomotives, Jupiter and #119. Following this will be an unveiling of a 24’ tall modern sculpture entitled “Monument to their Memory” created by Ilan Averbuch to commemorate those who toiled to build the nation’s first transcontinental railroad, a traditional Chinese Lion Dance blessing performance by Jung Hing Lion Dance Club, and remarks by officials from the Golden Spike Foundation, National Park Service and Utah Department of Cultural & Community Engagement. The event is free.
